If you wish to join the Forum, please go through the normal procedure of registering and in addition, please send an email to admin@window-on-wildlife.com with a little more information such as your interest in wildlife and this Forum in particular. Unfotunately we are getting too many registrations which are not genuine, so hopefully this will help if you have a real interest.If you are not logged in, and are wondering where everything is - it's all still there, but you need to log in to read the threads.As some of you know, we've been having an issue with the forum software - in non-technical terms, any time someone looked at an entry on the forum, we'd get an error message. And unfortunately "someone" includes the automated programs that Google and Bing and other search engines use to more or less read everything on the web and index it constantly - so we were getting thousands of error messages a day.
We are hoping that by limiting access to people who are signed in, we can reduce the number of error messages.
We eventually need to upgrade the forum software or do something that gets at the cause, but right now neither Laurad nor I have the time to do that - and logging in daily to delete error messages works, but we could crash the forum if we forget for a couple of days.
If there are threads that people check regularly without being logged in, please let us know, and we'll see about making them visible.
And we're still looking at other quick fixes - so there may be other changes showing up.
