A video from Rueters on Gao Gao getting bamboo supplements that are easier to chew ...

http://www.reuters.com/video/2015/09/25/elderly-panda-eats-bamboo-bread-at-san-d?videoId=365725089

Narrative:

It's like bamboo satay. A bamboo-kebab. Its bread made from bamboo and biscuits, and for this senior panda at the San Diego Zoo, it's delicious. Gao Gao, a 25-year old panda is having trouble chewing lately, so he's getting special meals from the staff. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SENIOR MAMMAL KEEPER AT THE SAN DIEGO ZOO, JENNIFER BECERRA, SAYING: "He is offered bamboo bread because he is an ageing panda, 25-year-old, and his teeth are starting to wear down, so this is an additional supplement to his bamboo to keep him healthy and keep him full." Making the made-to-order meals is quite a task. First, bamboo leaves are stripped off the stalks by hand. They're then dried, and ground down to a pulp. Then three types of biscuits are mixed in, it's steamed together, then ready to serve. Besides his daily bamboo bread, Gao Gao also enjoys cracked bamboo stalks, sliced sweet potatoes, primate biscuits and sliced apples. Gao Gao is one of three giant pandas at the zoo on loan from China.

From ABC 6 Wate.com  ......

"The San Diego Zoo’s panda cub, Xiao Liwu, was eager to play with a plastic ball during an exam."

Adorable video at:
