1:14pm

This was taken right after mating.  Female closest to cam fiddling with sticks:

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/ae3169be-0ed3-469a-9379-04e88b23ad5e_zpsh371urn8.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/ae3169be-0ed3-469a-9379-04e88b23ad5e_zpsh371urn8.png.html)

1:56pm

Male (closest to cam) just landed on female... no mating though.

5:55pm
Mom's been chirping for food for 20+ minutes...

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/aecfb7fe-ddd9-4ab2-8ca0-ee0443c2ea29_zpscxtagqft.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/aecfb7fe-ddd9-4ab2-8ca0-ee0443c2ea29_zpscxtagqft.png.html)

Got a bit louder - and dad arrives with a whole live fish:
6:02pm

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/16215adc-5a11-4b7f-a37c-b3b0e5727dad_zpsqxuxrsea.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/16215adc-5a11-4b7f-a37c-b3b0e5727dad_zpsqxuxrsea.png.html)

Mom flew off immediately, Dad off 6:07pm

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/958f59da-1c95-47d2-951d-ffbb057e5044_zpstozzrnr4.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/958f59da-1c95-47d2-951d-ffbb057e5044_zpstozzrnr4.png.html)

That was fast - mom back without fish (6:09pm) followed immediately by dad - quick mating!

Bonnie, is there a water source nearby for fishing?  such a busy place!  though there are many osprey nests along 95
in Maine so I guess not unusual.

Could you please add the link to the cam to your first post?  thanks  :flower

We have an EGG!
(approx. 10:05am)
:puzzled2:  I accidently deleted the pictures of her laying and getting up checking the egg ( :rant2:  )  If they get posted on the home page, I'll note it here.

10:19am  Pops just came in - if an osprey can get excited, that was his reaction!  He walked around it (strutted?), aerated, chirped, pushed mom a little so he could brood a bit, got up, aerated some more, looked at mom... Adorable!

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/47a3265c-7790-4929-84b1-132e222cf236_zpsuw5jd6qb.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/47a3265c-7790-4929-84b1-132e222cf236_zpsuw5jd6qb.png.html)

pics coming...

10:26am  Pops is brooding!  Mom's looking at him like, "Are you NUTS? I'm hungry!"

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/388cb21a-8f5e-4bc4-a623-a2265310374b_zpseg99hrcc.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/388cb21a-8f5e-4bc4-a623-a2265310374b_zpseg99hrcc.png.html)

10:34am  Pops finally gave up the brooding to Mom... she's still hungry, and he's aerating all around her!

(note: freeze warning for the area tonight thru Wednesday.)

Thanks, Sherri!

11:24am

Something flying around is really bothering Pops... he's been chirping like crazy:

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/5d184e9c-431b-4dc1-93d0-3bbeba1dc61b_zpsgfcrw5il.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/5d184e9c-431b-4dc1-93d0-3bbeba1dc61b_zpsgfcrw5il.png.html)

Amazing that not only is the traffic loud - but the construction, school bells and the people coming and going... this doesn't seem to phase the osprey.

12:00pm

Awww...

And Pops flies off!

Congratulations on the egg, Bonnie!  It does look like a great view of the nest - and definitely a busy area, but osprey do seem to be adapting to that.

Approx 2:30ish pm: I had cam up but was not watching closely; heard bird noises, and saw that Pops had taken over brooding, Mom didn't act pleased.  She walked close to him, bumping him a bit.  He got up, they beaked a bit, attempted mating

2:45pm: Pops flew off, Mom looked around nest and construction, and settled on the egg.  The camouflaging of the egg on this nest in this light is amazing:

Pops disappeared where the "X" is on the picture.  The headwaters of the Severn River are that way.

12:48pm
Mom has been incubating since I've been watching (approx. 9:00am)
Pops came in approx. 12:45pm and encouraged Mom to get up.  Still one egg.  Both are fussing with the straw and aerating.  I think Mom is hungry...

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/a33e5b0c-eb99-4fd8-ad7c-e2ddd45b4843_zps6q8myrg5.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/a33e5b0c-eb99-4fd8-ad7c-e2ddd45b4843_zps6q8myrg5.png.html)

12:52pm  Now she's chirping loudly... and Pops flies off.

Pops flew in, surprising Mom - Mated (!attempt) while she was brooding, and flew off.  Mom stood up to check the egg.
Everything looked ok... still only 1 egg

2:55pm
I think a stranger/intruder male just tried to land on the nest (or on Mom).  She squawked and mantled, he (pretty sure it was a male) flew very close to her and helicoptered a bit.  (Not sure because at first, she acted as if it was Pops with food - and I don't know them well enough to ID him from above.  Whoever it was, definitely had a very white chest - and no fish.)
She quickly checked the eggs and is brooding.

(I'm wondering if the mating attempt at 1:54pm was Pops or a stranger???)

3:29pm
There must be a bunch of males flying around the nest... Mom is squawking like crazy.  I can see them... not clearly.  May have to take a ride....

Good grief!  I wonder if some of these extra adults will eventually become helpers for a while - like the trio nest of eagles at Fulton Dam.  A bit of an apprenticeship would increase fish deliveries - and reduce the stress of those of us trying to watch the cams! :)

I would love to see that JudyB, the "Trio" on the Mississippi has been great to watch - especially when you can catch all 3 adults on the nest!

8:11am:  Mom is brooding.  Chat reports that Pops was in to mate - Mom was not receptive.
One person on chat also noted that he observed one of the osprey PICK UP A RABBIT killed it and TOOK IT TO THE NEST TO EAT the other day.  He posted a picture - which I checked - but couldn't see it.  NEVER heard of that before... a RABBIT???

8:41pm  Pops decides he'll brood for a while.
While I was posting this, Mom flew away:

Between 1:40 - 1:43pm, Mom up and 4 attempts at PS - Made one teeny one on first try - then ....nothing (aimed right at cam!)

1:43pm LABOR!!!  Mom shows us the new egg (which I didn't get a picture of...)

1:44pm Mom checks egg, stands above it for a few secs.

There's definitely someone in the neighborhood bothering this nest.  Mom started squawking, and Pops was followed into the nest by another osprey - Pop had a (headless) fish!
Both Mom and Pop watched for a minute, then Pop flew off the nest with his fish.

Mom has been brooding; lousy, rainy, cold day.
Pops just flew in and wanted Mom to get up - Nope - she didn't want to.
Pops started pulling on black nest stuff right beside Mom's back.

(Kind of worried me at first - I thought Pops was pulling on MOM'S feathers!)
Pops flew off to the right.  You can see the pile of black fabricky nest stuff Pops was pulling on (maybe it's seeweed???):

I drove by the nest last evening between 5-6pm to see if I could find the Osprey's perching/roosting place.  NO luck - no action!  Stayed approx. 20minutes.

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted...
2 - 3 times a day, if Pops wants to brood, and he comes to the nest without fish - there's a little spat!
Here's one of the arguments:

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/6fce46c2-5f47-4952-aa6a-5145d7d16b38_zpsk7cqsmku.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/6fce46c2-5f47-4952-aa6a-5145d7d16b38_zpsk7cqsmku.png.html)

When he does bring a fish, Mom grabs it and is gone in a flash.
On May 2, she left so quickly that the plastic that was in the nest went with her (stuck to her talon) - all was well, she returned unharmed.

3:56pm - to present
Mom calling Pops and looking around - she must be hungry.
She's dug and turned the eggs, but she's blocking the view.

Pops brought a snack for Mom -she's eating at the nest.
(Mom on right.)

She's just about finished at 4:26pm, and Pops doesn't want to get up from brooding

(One of the trees where Mom (and probably Pops) roost and eat has been removed by the construction workers... it was dead.)

This is what I've found every time I've checked the cam; Mom is hunkered down, brooding in the pouring rain.
It may stop raining periodically Friday; other than that... rain pattern expected into JUNE...

The red dot shows where one of the ospreys' 'roosting trees' that was located (it was removed).  Another tree (don't know if it's still there) is a few yards to the right, off of cam view.

Mom is feeding the chick.  The chick looks so tiny!
Pops is cleaning his beak.

2:46pm

Chick takes a quick break, Mom continues to eat, Pops supervising, occasionally closing his eyes.

10:09am
Pops brought Mom a piece of fish.  She's eating it on the right.  2 intact eggs were visible in the nest cup - but this picture isn't clear:

3:38 Pops brought Mom a Whopper!  Mom eats (back to us) while Pops guards the nest.

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/77fd6b21-87f6-4872-bfb8-940cce68b22b_zpsgevcsyls.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/77fd6b21-87f6-4872-bfb8-940cce68b22b_zpsgevcsyls.png.html)

4:52pm It looked as if Mom put her talon through an egg shell - couldn't tell whether the egg had attempted to hatch, or if it was empty. It doesn't look as if there is movement in the egg shell.
(Chat observed this too.)

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/8ce46492-6343-4cf8-ad70-e3f3d276cb42_zpsbogpzwri.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/8ce46492-6343-4cf8-ad70-e3f3d276cb42_zpsbogpzwri.png.html)

5:27pm Mom moves the shell to the top of nest, out of the egg cup.
One intact egg visible (though the picture is not clear).

2:06pm
2 little chicks peeping for food, along with Mom.  Pops just flew in with a nice fish.
Unfortunately, this cam doesn't do the nest justice.  I've taken a few pics this morning, and even I can't tell what's there.  I'd love to see a PTZ cam here.  HD is great - but not when it's so far away!

2:08pm  The plastic that was in the nest cup just covered the chicks.  Mom moved it over - now it's like a 'nest cup liner,' and she's feeding the chicks.   Pops is watching over everyone, blocking the view.

2:11pm

Mom's feeding the chicks.  C2 on left, C1 on right.  No bonking yet - C1 is in front!

7:28am - 7:45am  Just watched a nice long feed!
Pops brought in a nice large fish, Mom blocked much of the feed (and my pics are too blurry to see much) - but from what I could see, when Mom wasn't blocking view, was a very even feeding - and NO  bonking.  A bit of shoving (or head bobbling) - but didn't see either chick in submission, both chicks waiting their turn!
Chicks are 4 days apart in age!  (5-10 and 5-14 hatch dates)

Pops hasn't come to the nest yet.  Probably having trouble fishing - it's pouring today (started raining heavily approx. 11:30pm or so).
(Sometimes when she calls, she can see him eating and he comes to the nest in a flash.)

6:45am  Nice feeding; no bonking but a little bit of pushing by C1, and C2 gave a little push back!

(Away from PC)

Pops in with fish, nice even feeding = 2 bites for C1, 1 bite for C2, 1 bite for Mom; Repeat...
11:42am
C1 is finished, puts his little head on C2.  C2 continues to eat.  I saw a bit of pushing by C1; C2 nudges him back...

C2 takes a bite:

Mom has been trying to keep them shaded today and there has been lots of aerating of the nest.  The chicks seemed like they didn't want to take their usual 'food coma naps' - I think Mom is trying to fill them up so they'll sleep this afternoon!

(Rain in the forecast for tomorrow and Sunday.)

Mom was hollering so loudly, they probably heard her in Annapolis!

3:42pm
Pops in with nice headless fish; she must have seen him eating...

5:58pm

Mom started hollering at 5:02pm.  Finally, Pops delivered!  Can't tell if it's a live fish or not, but it's a whopper, and Mom was a little wobbly trying to grasp it to feed.
You can see the difference in size between the two.  This is from the beginning of the feeding and they already have crops, and C1 just made a nice PS!

12:50pm  Pops in with lunch (headless fish); Mom had been calling for approx. 20-25 minutes.

12:54pm
Someone may have followed Pops to the nest or saw him with fish; Pops is loudly warning all to stay away.
Mom and chicks seem to be oblivious to any threat:

4:13pm
C1 decided to take a stroll; turned around and headed back to Mom for a few more bites.
(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/b167c5eb-744d-4859-aca3-fcd6f1e05e47_zps5kvtfmul.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/b167c5eb-744d-4859-aca3-fcd6f1e05e47_zps5kvtfmul.png.html)

Right after pic, they both headed back to the nest cup; nap time!  They had a lot of fresh air today; Mom fiddled on the nest a lot and didn't brood non-stop.

Someone on Chat mentioned that the older one was a "bully."  I haven't seen any rivalry at all (maybe a little push right after C2 hatched - but nothing like we've seen on other nests).  Mom keeps her chicks very well fed.

4:39pm Nice large head-on fish brought in by Pops.
(Chat is still talking about 'bullying,' etc, and I still haven't seen any!
Many times C1 doesn't rush to eat and C2 eats first.   Feedings are frequent and often see crop on both (especially C1) when new food brought in!

3rd feeding right now (4:05pm), Pops on nest alerting anyone flying by to stay away.

First feeding between 6:30 am - 7:00am
7:30ish am - Snack
2nd meal  - ??? (forgot to note time)

4:12pm - Feeding is over.  Pops still on nest, Mom occasionally looking up and chirping.
C2 did not eat much during this feeding; looks like he is panting a bit (but it is 88F in Severna Park right now).  I didn't see any bonking (or attempts at bonking, C2 just seemed to ignore Mom when bites were offered.

Pops just brought in a large, headless fish.  He wanted to feed the chicks, and didn't want to give it up to Mom; there was a bit of a tug-of-war, and Mom won, naturally!  After Mom took the fish, C1 moved over to Pops when he was cleaning his beak, I think he wanted Pops to feed him!

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/d1e75569-bf0f-46d9-a7df-8345bb327796_zpsgfjh310j.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/d1e75569-bf0f-46d9-a7df-8345bb327796_zpsgfjh310j.png.html)

The chicks explored the nest today, walking all over.  They seemed to discover that they could look over the edge and count cars, then they moved over to the construction side of the nest to take a look.  Mom immediately started rearranging sticks!

2:00pm Mom just started hollering extra loud!  Saw an Osprey fly close to the nest, followed by what looked by Pops - at that point, Mom seemed to settle down.  The chicks went flat!
2:04pm  Mom is feeding the chicks, occasionally squawking loudly.   The chicks are no longer in the flattened out, submissive pose.

6:30am  Chat stated yesterday that one of the chicks has twine wrapped around its leg; one of the chatters had contacted Craig Koppie (FWS agent, biologist) and BGE (the utility that installed the platform).

(I'm going to look thru pictures; when the cam was installed and the bucket truck was on site, pics of the nest indicated that they left twine, plastic and other trash in the nest.  I questioned the cam's hosts who stated that 'most osprey nests have trash,' and that it wouldn't be a problem. :lump  )

Added:  6:56am  I have been watching both chicks move on the nest - I don't see where a chick has the twine around it's foot!  Mom has been calling Pops for breakfast...

Been  trying to post pics -PB trouble...

Pops just brought in a nice live flapping fish.  I think he really wants to feed the chicks and Mom just won't give in!
As soon as he landed, Mom grabbed it and moved over away from the chicks, who followed her quickly!
It looks like she held the fish down for several seconds with a talon in a choice spot (!).
The chicks wait and watch patiently:

(p.s.  The host of the cam stated that Pops sits on the right corner of the new high school (if he's not fishing), which doesn't make sense because that would be the furthest corner from the nest and to me, doesn't look like it would have a good viewpoint (maybe she meant the 'left' corner???)  - I drive by frequently and have never seen him there.
Also, one viewer posted a pic showing Pops sitting on top of the cam (I remember seeing someone photographing the nest early Sunday morning!  Must have been him!)

Pops in with large fish.  Mom makes no move to take it! The chicks don't seem to be hungry.
Mom finally takes the fish and feeds.  C1 eats a little, C2 not interested, would rather watch the traffic.
C2 approaches and finally takes a few bites.  (Both chicks seemed to have crops before this fish was delivered.)

There's now a piece of netting on the nest (maybe a discarded onion bag?)  It's near the edge of the nest closest to the cam.  Hopefully, it won't be an issue.
Looks like some more unidentifiable trash has also been added to the nest near the nest cup.

A large truck load of straw/hay was delivered to the school Friday and spread on the ground near the tree line.  If Pops wants to bring stuff to the nest, I wish he'd consider that!

Back on line. Slightly adjusted the camera angle (which can only by done via physical access to the camera), banded the chicks, and removed much of the debris from the nest. Many, many thanks to BGE (again) for their generous support and assistance, and thanks to US FWS, and Craig Koppie for the assistance with the nest activities, the banding, the ongoing education for us, and the support of these amazing birds!

No news as to sex of chicks, and no pics posted.

Oh, Sherri! Be still my heart (and blood pressure!)

1:54pm
Pops just delivered a nice sized fish.  Chicks were not that hungry, but Mom was.  I was hoping that a chick would try self-feeding - nope.
(I have seen a chick self-feed once or twice, don't know which one it was.)

(Added: 2:08pm One of the chicks has a nice piece of fish and is self-feeding!)

 (http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/ac2e3bb4-0b9e-4837-8b65-6a1faafa9c86_zpsgv4hxqev.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/ac2e3bb4-0b9e-4837-8b65-6a1faafa9c86_zpsgv4hxqev.png.html)

The nest rails look like they are still quite built up.  (On the Ches Conserv nest, I think I remember the rails flattening out a bit before fledge.  Maybe the parents here don't think the chicks are ready. I've seen Pops bringing a few sticks to the nest in the mornings.)
I've got a box, 2 sheets, gloves, and phone numbers ready - just in case there is a fledge.  Can you think of anything else I would need - I plan to drive over there and check (if possible) if I see a fledge.  Frankly, the phone numbers (IMO) are most important!)

Thanks, Sherri.  The oldest will be 7 weeks old on Tues., 6-28, the youngest will be 7 weeks old on Saturday, 7-2-16.
When they fledge, do they usually aim for a spot where they've seen a parent?  Or do they "wing it?"  (Ha!)
Dad hangs out in the trees at the top (right) of the cam pic.  The cam 'owner' said that she's seen Pops sitting on the new school.  I've never seen him there (there are a lot of workers there during the week).  I think early in the season, she mentioned the trees (one of which was cut down).  I've seen Pops leave the nest and land in a tree (no longer visible on cam).

They are getting fairly close to fledge time  :nod2:  probably couple more weeks.
I'm not sure where they go, Bonnie.  I only have first hand experience with Milford nest and a few times I know
they just did a fly around.  Then we had one hiding out on top of the Center building -- actually the observation deck roof!....but I do think they may head for whatever looks possible to land on if they get tired.

(thinking that, if you don't wear glasses, you might want to make sure you have sunglasses with you to protect
your eyes if you need to pick one up)

The chick (yellow band) on the right just did a crop drop and is eating something (self-feeding).

Mom has fish (I think) and is having a few bites.  Blue is heading over to see if he can have some.

Just clicked on to hear Mom hollering... Pops flies right in with a live fish.  Mom takes it, chicks line up to eat, Pops flies off.

(Before this, they had been lounging, napping in the nest.)

Mom is feeding Yellow.  Blue is watching, then looking around

Mom left the nest about 10 minutes ago (after a lot of possible food calling).  The chicks were standing around looking, preening (they both have smallish crops).  Suddenly, they both went flat.  I wonder what they saw or heard?

Checked frequently last night and this morning.
Storm was loud, but not that bad last night.  When it thundered, chicks went flat.
There are several fireworks events nearby on the 4th and probably leading up to the 4th (4 that I know of).  Since thunder seems to frighten them, I hope the fireworks don't freak them too badly.

Blue twine is still in the nest.  It didn't look attached to anyone as of 7:56am.

Mom and the kids have been hollering for at least 20 minutes!  Finally, Pops delivers, looks around and takes off.
One of the chicks is trying to grab the fish:

Great pictures, Ferenz!   :flower

12:43pm  Mom took the fish and flew off.  Maybe she wanted to eat privately - or maybe she saw a hungry intruder.

12:51pm  Mom returned to nest with the fish.  Someone is definitely in the neighborhood.  She's alerting and hasn't shared the fish with the chicks yet.  Chicks are also looking around and have stopped begging and/or trying to grab some fish.

12:52pm  Mom continues to alarm call.

I sure hope so, Sherri.  I just commented on the chat about it... and my comment disappeared!!!  Interesting?   :rant2:
(I usually don't say anything there unless I think it's important!)

Added: I don't think either will attempt a fledge today - there will be a parade this morning, and rain this afternoon, and MORE fireworks this evening.  They are so old now, if a rescue is attempted, I hope they don't jump.  (Also, the fireworks were horrible last night at several locations near the nest (and my house!) from 8:45pm until well after 10:00pm.)

11:29  Chick in upper left just did a PS over the people that were walking below  :lollol:

:lollol:

Did you see all the kids asking the parade watchers for donations???
And I wonder how many people were aware of the nest?  Maybe 2 or 3?  I've asked locals - they didn't have a clue, even the High School kids!   :puzzled2:

11:40am  Pops just delivered a fish.
11:45am  Pops is gone, Mom feeds chicks.

I didn't notice the kids -- hopefully they were collecting for a worthwhile cause.

I know there is one person that is aware of the nest if that PS hit him.   :haha:

Looks like all is back to normal.

Right after this, Yellow Band sat right down - and hasn't gotten up since.  Blue is still contemplating the road.

Chick on left (yellow, osprey in middle of pic) has a clump of nest stuff stuck to h/h talon.  By the time I looked again - h/s had worked most of it off (I hope!)

Pops arrived with a fish and quickly took off with it.
Chicks and Mom are calling for him.  Maybe they see him (or an intruder) nearby:

11:14am
Pops flew in with a fish.  Yellow takes it, Mom takes from Yellow.

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/a2a39561-58b4-498e-a654-dd5c777f6fe5_zpsghxqynsw.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/a2a39561-58b4-498e-a654-dd5c777f6fe5_zpsghxqynsw.png.html)

Both kids share the fish.  I think Yellow is holding it while Mom watches.

Added:  11:19am  No more sharing!  Yellow is eating.  They are all looking around and up.

12:36pm

Mom just flew off as if she saw something she didn't like - or maybe she saw Pops.
Mom came right back and chick on right is chirping (Blue?)

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/d3d71a43-a78e-4575-a408-62a5081f2a55_zpsh7wzonzp.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/d3d71a43-a78e-4575-a408-62a5081f2a55_zpsh7wzonzp.png.html)

They look so much alike - I think Yellow is more cautious, Blue (on right) is a bit braver.

Darn!  I usually check there in the morning the last few days but didn't today as was busy outside at the
time.

At least he initially took off when no traffic was coming!  I wish she had kept the video going for another few
seconds so we could see whether he crossed back over to the nest side of street.  I was hoping he would take off from the back of the nest but no such luck. It looked like he might be tracking before he left. He did look good when he took off.

Keep an eye on Yellow to see if he is facing a specific direction a lot-- and you're volume up -- you might hear Blue calling.
Polo has another video right after that one of Yellow flapping --- very determined so I wouldn't be surprised if he takes off within a day or so.
Good luck when you go over there --- hope you see Blue so you know he is OK.

9:45  Yellow being fed now.

ETA 10:17   I just saw a shadow fly over the nest -- decent size.  Then saw a bird fly into the woods line......not sure if an osprey but if not, it had to have been at least crow size.  Guess I should watch full screen.

10:19  Adult on nest is calling -- think might be for Blue.   Yellow looking up.  I have to leave soon

I think there is an osprey on the telephone wire (center - look above the nest in picture).  I wonder if it's Blue.  IMO it is!  (Dad has been hanging out in the trees to the right.  I'll point it out the next time I see him.)  This was noticed by a chatter.

 :flower   Thanks, Sherri!

4:40pm
Blue returned (per chat) at 3:25pm.
Don't know when this fish was delivered.  I could hear both chirps hollering/begging (I was in another room!), when I got to the PC, they were both looking up.  Several minutes later (??) I looked again and saw this:

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/d7bce133-15f4-447a-bebb-83d8cf898d67_zpsjsgasf59.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/d7bce133-15f4-447a-bebb-83d8cf898d67_zpsjsgasf59.png.html)

(Note the twine on lower left corner of nest.)

Added:  I drove by approx. 1:30pm and couldn't see much; too much traffic to pull over and I didn't want to park in the "driveway" up from the nest - didn't want to scare the fledgling (that I couldn't see!) on the pole.  It was approx. 120F (kidding - but it felt like it).
(How in the world do people talk/text on phones while driving?  I can barely look UP^^^.)

Just watched the nest landing video.  Polo indicates Blue was on the camera perch.  Seems like he came in awfully
fast to be on the cam.  :puzzled2:
I love how he ran to Mom squawking!  probably saying, 'I did it.....are you proud of me?' or perhaps more like
'I'm back -- where's my fish?'  :lollol:

.......Polo (thank you, Polo) has another video at 11:38 AM  of Blue going from the pole toward the middle of the road, landing on the wires right
over all the traffic!  YIKES!  ... hope he doesn't get accustomed to landing on wires -- might find electric!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2hEiOggSXs

She does a slow motion at the end --- scary how low he was over the road -- maybe just the cam but it did
see like a car slowed down a little.

A couple oncoming cars just slowed down a lot -- hope Yellow not in or near road.
Ugh!  busy, fast-paced road.

Taking off is one thing -- the difficult part is landing for the first couple times.

9:25  Blue on alert --- chirping and alarming above.   Right after this cap, I saw an osprey shadow fly over the nest -- there
might have been two.
The alarming could be an intruder -- but it could also be the adult calling the fledgling in.  I have personally seen
that at the Milford nest.

9:46  Very odd behavior by Blue -- he is flapping like crazy - lots of hopping and helicopters but not taking

Thanks, Sherri!
When you were posting, I was getting ready to roll! (Sent you an email.)
Got to the nest approx. 11:00am.  Stopped out of cam view (ahead of the nest) and checked ground, trees on other side of the street, and the new school roof. (It was previously reported by cam 'owners' that Pops hangs out on the roof - I've never seen him there (I would think too many workers during the week.)  It was quiet.  There may have been an osprey on the roof, near the center, i.e., not near an edge, but it was hard to tell.
Approx 10-15 minutes later (??) I pulled into the 'driveway' and all of a sudden, it seemed like Osprey Central! I was trying to signal to the cam watchers - but now I think I may have been out of view.  At one point there were 6, maybe 7 (!!!) osprey flying around, 2 of them had fish. (I could see Mom and one chick in the nest, so I don't believe they were part of the excitement.)  I couldn't tell if the flyers  were adults, fledglings, male or female. It seemed that as soon as one would give up chasing a fish-holding osprey, another osprey would come from who knows where and begin chasing.  (All this time, I was trying to signal to the cam, "2 there, 3 over there," according to chat, only one person saw me!  I'm glad I didn't cause an accident, passers-by probably thought I was NUTS!  (True!?).
I tried to take a bunch of pictures, but realized my battery was just about done.  Will check in a bit.
Going to try to go back again later.
Whew!

Bonnie,
Off topic
I was gone from 10:40 till almost noon.  Had emergency call from my daughter that her elderly, diabetic dog was missing.
He also has very poor sight.  She lives about 1 minute from me so I tore off out of here.
Thank God the story has a good ending but not without a LOT of scary stuff!

Here I was watching to see if you went there and you went while I was gone -- go figure, that is my luck.  :lollol:
Haven't seen your email yet.

Lots of excitement during your visit!  wow!   I wonder if one of them was Yellow.  I sure wish he would show up so we
know he is OK.

 :lollol:
Thanks, Sherri!  That was me!  You saw a lot more than I did!
Gave it the once over again...
Here's what I posted on the chat:
Stopped by the nest again, and saw nothing exciting! Mom was not happy when I stopped under the nest; a man pushing a stroller passed me - maybe 2 people slowing down nearby upsets her... so I kept walking. Blue spread his wings - beautiful! (FYI: There is a small amount of poop under the nest, a lot less than I would have thought!) I checked everywhere I could think of (again!): trees, roofs, and took a ton of pictures. No other osprey seen this time. I think I saw 2 crows passing by. For the sparrow fans, there are many, many sparrows living in the nest; that's where the action was this afternoon. (5:00pm - 5:30pm approx.)

The car that stopped thought I needed help because I was waving (at the camera)!  I said, "HI!  Are you here to look at the Osprey nest?"  He thought I was NUTS!  (He's right!)

Well, good ...... glad it was you.  Now you have pictures of you and 'your' osprey together.
That's why I did the enlargements.

I don't know why he would have thought that being odd ---- doesn't everyone stand in the street waving at osprey?  :haha:

Well, phew! a couple people on chat saw that attempt as well so I'm not losing it after all!  :lollol:

8:03 Dad brought fish -- this time Mom's turn to eat.
I have to leave for the night --- hope Yellow comes back before too dark.

Hmm - they are supposed to teach their offspring the skills needed to survive, Sherri....   :mhihi:

8:05 pm
Adult, probably Dad, in with fish which was claimed by Mom, who is now eating and occasionally feeding Blue, who doesn't seem very hungry.  Blue is occasionally looking at something - wonder if she sees or hears Yellow.  After a few minutes, Blue is up and being fed.

8:11 pm
Mom has walked away and is wiping her beak.  Blue has what is left of the fish and is self-feeding.

Blue is doing some flapping - surprised me!  I think the fish may be gone, though not sure.

......but she just walked away and let him have the rest.  (he had his own fish 1-1/2 hrs ago)

8:12  Someone on chat wondered whether Blue had an injured wing and that was the reason he wasn't flying
off.
Nothing wrong with those wings!
(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o223/Sherd43/00%20Osprey%202016/Severna%20Park%20MD/07101608121.jpg) (http://s121.photobucket.com/user/Sherd43/media/00%20Osprey%202016/Severna%20Park%20MD/07101608121.jpg.html)

However, he is still doing the fly hopping as if he forgot how to!  :lollol:
He did fly out again this morning and again at 1:35 today so I think he is OK -- he had his long time away yesterday/

Have a good night everyone

Blue is lying down in the nest, and Mom is perched on the edge looking out over the street below.

Reading back, it sounds as if Yellow just fledged this morning?  Not unusual at all for a fledgling to take a day or two to get back to the nest, though I'm still hoping he or she will arrive back tonight.

There is a picture at 6:25 AM of empty nest so Blue must have taken flight this morning --- a really short
one as I opened cam at 6:35 and got this picture.

Yes, Judy ---- Yellow fledged yesterday morning, 8:21 ..... and from what I can tell so far, he has not yet returned.
Hopefully someone saw him this morning.

Something going on at the high school this morning ---- cars have been piling in there the whole time I have been
watching.  Summer school?

Blue has been paying a lot of attention to this side -- head bobbing toward school and below.

(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o223/Sherd43/00%20Osprey%202016/Severna%20Park%20MD/07111608281.jpg) (http://s121.photobucket.com/user/Sherd43/media/00%20Osprey%202016/Severna%20Park%20MD/07111608281.jpg.html)

I'm probably not going to be able to do much watching today -- have tons of stuff to do to get ready for
trip.  Will pop in and out as much as possible to check if Yellow came home.

ETA 8:35
Blue just took off in direction of high school and 8:36  back again

Good morning, everyone (wasn't quite awake when I posted before  :lollol:).

9:53 am
Blue is self-feeding on the right side of the nest.  An adult is perched at the back keeping watch.

10:34 am
Blue has been in and out a couple of times (s/he is there now - do we know genders?).  Mom's been gone for a while - maybe spending time with Yellow?

11:01 am
Dad arrived with a fish....

...and Blue claimed it from him, while Mom watched carefully, perhaps to see how well she'd learned that lesson.

11:10 am
Blue is eating her fish.  There's only one adult on the nest, and I'm guessing it's Mom.

12:17 pm
Mom (I assume, because Dads don't hang out on nests) and Blue are hanging out on the nest, looking around and sometimes looking up.  I wonder if Dad is perched on the cam - they look that way from time to time.  The little birds who live in the basement are busily coming and going.

1:33 pm
I just returned from lunch - and I see two chicks on the nest - and the one with the yellow band is eating a fish, quite eagerly, I must say.

Welcome back, Yellow!

2:30 pm
I haven't had the cam up since I saw them both - just took a quick peek, and both are still there, though I don't know if they've taken any little flights.  They were in about the same spots as an hour ago.

Sherri and JudyB -  :flower THANK YOU! so much for the great pictures and updates!  I just read through - super! (I just took a quick look at the nest and was able to get a family portrait, and came right here!  First time I've been on PC today!)  :rolleyes2:

Good afternoon, Bonnie, Sherri and all!

All has looked peaceful while I've been watching today.  I have a couple of pictures to add in a minute.  The first is from 2:45 pm, and Yellow is in the middle eating, while Blue watches from the left corner (adult on the right).

The second is about 3:00 pm - Yellow had flown off (missed the departure), and Dad (I assume) came in with a fish which Blue promptly claimed.

The third one is from 3:25 pm - Blue was eating her fish at the edge of the nest, when Yellow came over to see if she needed help - and they had a nice tug-of-war for a minute, and I believe Yellow ended up with the fish.

As of 4:54 pm, both are on the nest, and one of them is eating (pretty sure it's Yellow) - and Blue just tried a snatch, but Yellow held on to the fish.  And I have no clue about genders - it's been a long day, and he or she is harder to type.

And it looks as if the adult just tried a snatch - and didn't get the fish.  Yellow is learning!  (Though I don't know how hard the adult tried.)

5 pm - Yellow on the right with fish, adult (probably Mom) in the middle, Blue on the left.

5:30 pm
Both were eating a few minutes ago - I think Dad delivered another fish!  Both chicks have nice plump crops - and I suspect Mom is thinking of spending some quality time at a quiet lake all by herself, since her crop is not as plump as theirs right now (which is very normal this time of year, and is one of the reasons females usually leave on migration within a week or two after the chicks fledge, while males generally stay another month or so, until the fledglings leave the area.

Sadly they have that wad of blue line/twine back in the nest.

11:22  No one home --- and I see some of the twine/line (or whatever it is) is over to the corner now.
There was two different piles of it at one point -- I hope one didn't take off with some.
I haven't been able to watch since my last post.

(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o223/Sherd43/00%20Osprey%202016/Severna%20Park%20MD/07131611221.jpg) (http://s121.photobucket.com/user/Sherd43/media/00%20Osprey%202016/Severna%20Park%20MD/07131611221.jpg.html)

This was posted on the chat -- apparently yesterday as it says 17 hrs ago
"That's bad blue flew off with string and sticks caught on her foot. She came right back ... dang string came with her."

One of the regular chatters seems to be kind of 'dismissing the worry' about this stuff.  I'd be extremely concerned
if I were them.  Apparently got lucky yesterday.  However, with the size of that wad, if one took off with it and went
in a tree, they could very easily get tangled up.

Title: Re: Severna Park MD Osprey Cam
Post by: JudyB on July 13, 2016, 09:09:52 AM
Not sure, but looking at the pictures, I think the twine that's been causing problems is in the nest now.  I did see one of the chicks take off with it and return with it yesterday - and thought I saw the chick get untangled afterwards, so was hoping they'd stay untangled.

Twine as of 12:10 pm
(http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x103/JudyB_eagles/2016/zz_misc/20160713_001.jpg)

I've had the cam up for a while and haven't seen anyone, but both have been flying well, so I'm guessing they're with one or both adults in whatever shady spot the adults hang out on days like this.

12:50 pm
Chick arrived.

And naturally she or he landed right on the bundle of blue twine!

But happily did not get tangled - and I think I'm seeing a yellow band as the chick flies off.

Blue visited briefly at 1:20 pm, and happily stayed away from the twine.

She flew off a moment later - both are looking very comfortable with their take-offs, though they don't always nail the landings!  :lollol:  Though they are very close - just a bit of an extra bobble.

1:49 pm
It's been looking rather as if it's snowing - but I think it's actually just raining hard.  Thought about hail, but I looked at the nest full-size, and nothing is bouncing, so almost certainly raindrops.  Lots of raindrops.

1:54  Both adults (I think) came in almost the same time......the one closest is adult -- not sure about the
one in rear that has a fish.  That one took off -- then then other.
They appeared to be alarming so probably had company like they did the other day when Bonnie was
there.

ETA 2:00 One adult in food calling - likely Mom

Title: Re: Severna Park MD Osprey Cam
Post by: JudyB on July 13, 2016, 11:06:31 AM
Glad you caught that, Sherri - pretty sure the one in back was Dad with a fish, but I didn't see him leave.  Mom(?) in front flew in with a fairly large stick, flew out with it, then flew back with it - and I worried for a minute that it was tangled with her foot but it looked clear, and she's since set it down on the nest.

2:02 pm
I didn't get any s'caps, but Mom was still on the nest and appeared to be calling (and I had zoomed in a bit to check her foot - which looked fine) when she started backing up - and I think Dad landed again with the fish.  Mom rushed him and grabbed it, and in some sequence a chick arrived (I think Yellow), Mom flew off with the fish, and Dad must have left because he's not here.  Mom has been looking hungry, so I'm glad she got a fish.  And Dad has been doing a great job supplying them, so I wouldn't be surprised if something arrives for Yellow before long.

2:05 pm
And Blue also seems to think another fish will appear - she just arrived.
And Yellow bobbed head a couple of times and was off like a shot - perhaps she saw Dad with a fish and went to help. :)
And now Yellow is back (no fish).
And I need to focus on work - bye!

Apparently both took right off for when I finished taking the cap, I looked up and Yellow was on edge of nest!
(hope I've got that right -- couldn't see what was going on while processing cap)
He moved in and snagged the twine a bit --- but he is clear of it --- for now!

Thanks for the pictures, Sherri!

Sherri or Bonnie - do we know which of the chicks is older?  And any ideas about gender?  They both look quite big, so I tend to say she - but one looks bigger more often, so maybe one of each?

3:18 pm
Assigning human emotions I realize, but this looks like one forlorn chick on the nest in the rain.

Looks like a dark band, so I'm thinking this is Blue.

Yes, that is Blue ....... I saw the band clearly before it starting raining so hard.

I don't know which one is older -- and I always refer to them as 'he' though that doesn't mean I think they are
males.  :lollol:
I think Blue is a female -- and I believe I read when they did the banding, based on size and weight, they
thought so too.  Not sure about Yellow but I think 'he' in general looks a little smaller --- but not by much.

Adult was in with fish, which was promptly claimed by Yellow (I was focused on other things so don't know if he followed Dad in or when he arrived).  Blue arrived a couple of minutes later, and is showing great interest in Yellow's fish, though she hasn't tried to grab it yet.  Though she is moving nest material near where Yellow is eating, and if she happened to grab a bit of fish....  :lollol:  And now she's moved to the end of the nest.

Seeing them in this light and from this perspective, I think Blue does look more female and Yellow looks more male.  And perhaps Blue is less dominant (or more full).  But it is hard to tell.

And I see you have pictures - thanks, Sherri!

And Yellow took the fish to the edge of the nest - made me wonder if he's thinking of flying off with it, though there's no need as Blue isn't trying to grab it.

I'll check in as much as I can today -- however, getting ready for trip so won't be 100% watching

Fish tug-of-war! Blue had it first (missed the delivery).  Yellow (on right) won!

Sorry I wasn't able to be here today - and great picture of the tug-of-war, Bonnie!  I've seen them do it, but never got such a great shot of it!  :thumbsup1:

And so happy to see them doing so well.

Hi Judy!

5:41pm  Yellow just landed beautifully, followed immediately by Blue.  Wonder if they're hanging around together.  Both were food calling (I think).

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/6fcdbb60-2939-40e4-bf6d-d65a6fdd856b_zpsm9b4urny.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/6fcdbb60-2939-40e4-bf6d-d65a6fdd856b_zpsm9b4urny.png.html)

I'd love to see them spend the night together on the nest...

Added: 5:49pm   Lots of thunder and lightning a bit north of the nest.  Wonder if that brought them home ...or  hunger!

5:55pm  Pops just arrived with a live flapping fish!  Fish tug-of-war and Pops just wanted to get out of their way!  Yellow won - for now!

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/13eedc21-f1e4-4e4b-a53d-20e052256792_zps7iag3vg5.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/13eedc21-f1e4-4e4b-a53d-20e052256792_zps7iag3vg5.png.html)

5:58pm  Blue is walking around the nest calling... maybe Pops will be back with another fish. Yellow is rather slow eating his fish, this is still very new to h/h.
I think the storms will miss Severna Park (I hope) but they can be heard close by.

Mom has been on the nest for quite some time food calling... Pops finally arrived with a large, flopping fish.  Mom grabbed it and flew off to the trees to the right rear of nest.  Pops flew off in the opposite direction.  This happened so quickly that I couldn't get a picture!  Mom looks thin and disheveled.  She'll bulk up before migration, I'm sure.
Will try to get a picture when she returns.

Chirping can be heard in the background.  Don't know who it is!

Both chicks are on the nest!  Yellow (on right) is eating, looks like a small piece of fish:

5:57am  Just got a better look at the fish, Blue has it now! - it may be live and flapping; regardless - it's a big one!

12:26pm  Pops drops off a live, floppy fish at 11:54am (per chat); Blue takes it and is eating (per chat - I can't tell them apart).  Notice how Mom is trying to stay cool.  It's a hot 90+ F today and very humid.

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/1ecc807c-3c43-4809-8c7e-d12b73f1f0ab_zpsrjzdoxgu.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/1ecc807c-3c43-4809-8c7e-d12b73f1f0ab_zpsrjzdoxgu.png.html)

12:42pm  Blue(?) just took h/h fish over to Mom, "Please help me Mom!"  So far, Mom is ignoring him!

Refer to above post:
1:30pm  Blue is still working on his fish... Chat is now saying that Blue brought the live fish to the nest!  I missed it and the stream doesn't have a rewind feature that I can figure out... so I'm not sure where that fish came from!  Blue is still beside Mom, but I haven't seen Mom help him conquer his fish!

2:32pm  Blue is still eating that fish!!!

Haven't been watching... just clicked on to see Blue eating.  Blue is not actually sharing, but is allowing Yellow to have a few bites right out of his beak.  Yellow is also finding a few dropped pieces to munch.  (I'm guessing at ID from behavior, haven't seen bands, so not positive re who's who.)

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/19d52ee9-6185-45a3-b0d0-8e9d381bbe9e_zpsgyfqmk0s.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/19d52ee9-6185-45a3-b0d0-8e9d381bbe9e_zpsgyfqmk0s.png.html)

Added:  I'm pretty sure I DID see Blue feed Yellow!  I have seen this before, but not since they fledged!   :flower  I'll be sorry to see this family leave for migration.  What a delight this family has been!

Added again:  2:56pm  Just took one more look, Yellow now has the fish.  (I was correct on the ID's above.)

5:03pm  Yellow arrived at the nest calling, then sat down to rest, looking around.  Lots of chirping, Blue flew in with Pops - who had a fish - could see that the head had been worked on a little - but the fish was still flapping (yuck!).
Pops couldn't get out of there fast enough when the fledglings started a tug-of-war.  Blue won.  Yellow is still chirping!

Can't remember when I've seen Pops on the nest (July 20th, according to my forum notes here and written).  I've seen Mom daily.  She was here with Yellow approx. 6:30-7:00am this morning.
(May have to take a ride over there and look around.)

Chatter saw Pops today fly in to the nest with a fish. Yellow grabbed the fish and flew to the trees to eat.

6:30pm  Blue came to the nest with a small hunk of something that must have been fish - he ate it quickly, in a couple of bites.
6:36pm  Yellow just joined Blue on the nest.  Both are calling and poking around on the nest.

Everyone has been making appearance at the nest - Mom (calling for Pops for food - he almost always delivers), both fledglings and Pops, of course!

1:12pm  Pops and a noisy Blue just flew in - Pops with a nice fish.  Blue is chirping so loudly that everyone in the neighborhood is going to know he's having lunch!

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/4f88eecc-a664-4c1e-baf4-ee446bb7e5d6_zpsdrm5w8zm.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/4f88eecc-a664-4c1e-baf4-ee446bb7e5d6_zpsdrm5w8zm.png.html)

4:43pm  Yellow and Blue have been on the nest screaming(!) for at least 1/2 hour!  Finally, Pops delivers and Holy Moly!  Tug of war!  Yellow won the fish and Blue had a tight grip on Pops' talon for at least 15 seconds (seemed like much longer).  Pops was finally able to escape and flew off.  (Unfortunately, the fish and Pops' talon are not in view.)

3:46pm  Blue (in front), just flew in, Pops flew overhead - it didn't look like he had a fish (yet!).  Both chicks are CHIRPING!

1:16pm  Mom just stopped by the nest and called for a few seconds. Another osprey could be heard answering (from the trees at top of cam view).  Mom answered and flew off.

3:09pm  Pops just delivered a nice, big headless fish to Blue.  He had been calling for about 15 minutes (must have seen Pops prepping it).  Blue tried to fly off with it but it was too heavy.  He's eating now: takes a bite, chirps, takes a bite, chirps...

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/ca4dde05-4bac-4da5-8a62-5758b087b5c3_zpshqtmdmym.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/ca4dde05-4bac-4da5-8a62-5758b087b5c3_zpshqtmdmym.png.html)

3:15pm  Blue likes to eat over on the wooden platform bar.  Maybe it's easier for him to steady the fish.  I've seen him do this a few times:

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/39d0b3b7-f981-44fd-8828-14d4bfea8a62_zpsy6onjnmb.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/39d0b3b7-f981-44fd-8828-14d4bfea8a62_zpsy6onjnmb.png.html)

You can see the size of the fish in the pic above.

5:17pm  Pops just delivered a nice fish piece to Yellow.  Yellow is much quieter than Blue...

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/d6be4db0-e07c-4d2f-ac7f-bfccd72d93f2_zps8cjvriem.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/d6be4db0-e07c-4d2f-ac7f-bfccd72d93f2_zps8cjvriem.png.html)

Pops left immediately after the delivery.

5:20pm  Yellow is gone - missed his departure.

added: 5:23pm  Blue is home!  He is the noisy one!

12:42pm  Blue arrives noisily to the nest followed immediately by Pops, who has a large, live fish.  Blue grabbed the fish, Pops flew off and Blue followed him.  They both headed toward the treeline in the upper right of cam stream pic.

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2016%20SevParkOsprey/ff785e6a-2cdd-49cc-a79f-b9e0028ea6d0_zpspylmfgr0.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2016%20SevParkOsprey/ff785e6a-2cdd-49cc-a79f-b9e0028ea6d0_zpspylmfgr0.png.html)

When Blue left the nest with the fish, he dipped down and it looked like he was very close to a passing car.  (It could have been deceiving because of the cam angle.)

1:53pm Just happened to have the cam window open and heard a lot of chirping... Pops must have just dropped off this big fish for a noisy Yellow (didn't see band, but s/he was there earlier).

Last time Mom was seen possibly 8-22 or 8-23 (pics posted on cam site do not match my pics - overall feathering too light and head marking looks different to me).
Last time I saw Mom on nest was 8-7-16 (definite ID). (Wasn't watching 24/7.)

Last time Dad seen on nest (definite ID) seen 8-22-16.

Not sure about fledglings...   :puzzled2:

Bonnie, great that you have activity on your nest!  :thu:.... Do you think it's the same pair?   Female on nest now and it sounds like
she is food calling.....also looks like she could use a meal or two.

What's with all the extra hardware this year along the rails? --- and a perch has been added!   being that you have been on site, does the one 'road side' actually go over the traffic or is it cam angle?   Not so good for inexperienced juvies before fledging if it goes over road.

Sherri, the pole of the nest is on the grass to the right of the sidewalk, but the cam angle makes it look like the nest is over the street.  It's close enough that if the chicks fledge on the street side, they definitely could land in the street.  I visited several times last season before and after fledge.  Fledgling #1 was missing for several days, but eventually returned to the nest. (I was not able to find it!) The parents like to hang out in the trees that aren't in view (upper right of your picture) - and I think that may be where the juvie was hiding!

Approx 3:40pm
Observed several visits and hanky-panky today.  Earlier, Pops brought Mom a small fish, she flew up and to the right with it (trees are in upper right, out of sight).
They've both been very vocal today.

(http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag398/bonduk/2017%20SEVPARKOsprey/fb1b6861-9c2b-4032-9fd6-8ee9106a79e7_zpsmjcmrogj.png) (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/bonduk/media/2017%20SEVPARKOsprey/fb1b6861-9c2b-4032-9fd6-8ee9106a79e7_zpsmjcmrogj.png.html)

There is a lot of foot traffic (students) as well as vehicle traffic - which the ospreys continue to ignore!

(Pops on right in picture - his feathers are darker.  I think it's the same pair - not 100% certain.  Behavior seems to be the same as last year!)

Mom and Pops have been on (or near) the nest all day.  Pops was very loud earlier... I think there must be intruders/migrators in the area.
Here's Mom supervising school dismissal.  Amazing that all this action doesn't bother them!

No egg as of 3:41pm today.
Mom has been on the nest constantly, watching the traffic and occasionally calling Pops.  Pops has been very prompt in delivering her meals when she's hungry! She usually takes her fish off the nest to eat - but not always.
When the angle is right, you can see his shadow on the nest - he likes to hang out on top of the cam!

Egg dates:
#1  4-12-17
#2  4-15-17
#3  4-19-17

I'm pretty sure the parents are hearing something from the eggs!
They usually have their 'changing of the guards' seamlessly.  Not today!  I've noticed every time a parent returns to change, the current brooding parent ignores h/h - and doesn't want to get up!  I saw Pops put a piece of junk on Mom's back, and twice I saw Pops sit VERY close to Mom when she wouldn't get up!
(STILL haven't figured out how to take pictures on this fancy laptop!)

Saw a couple of feeds today; early morning: didn't see PeeWee get any.
Later in the afternoon, saw 2 feedings.  First feeding: PeeWee got a 3-5 bites (don't know how many made it into h/h little beak).
Second feeding:  PeeWee did well!  She has a crop (finally!).  The 2 older chicks' crops are so huge, they can hardly hold their little heads up.

This was posted on a blog, in reference to a "live chat."  I have no idea where this 'live chat' is.  If (personal) info was needed to sign up for it, that's probably why I can't find it!

As you all know–unless I get the OK from the USFWS–we cannot intervene. I have been in contact with them since the begiinning–when this 3rd chick first hatched because of my own concern and how we would handle it. I am waiting to hear back.

Mary–I share your concern and it is horrible to see. It is however a wild nest even though it is next to a high school. Of course, because it is being viewed by people–this is what complicates an issue that happens in nests all the time–but now we can all see it unfortunately. As I have told everyone–I have to have permission and assistance from the USFWS to intervene. I am waiting for a response from several people there.”

Our pretty female chick fledged sometime this morning.  According to chat (and replay), she flew toward the school (to the right), and came right back to the nest.  A little later, she flew off again - the nest is now empty!
